Cat House Café at the Memphis Zoo offers a casual, no-frills dining spot where visitors can grab a quick bite without straying far from the animal exhibits. It’s not a full-service restaurant but more of a café-style grill with a cafeteria vibe, reflecting the practical needs of families and zoo guests looking for convenient, park-friendly meals.

The atmosphere leans toward functional rather than polished. Seating is ample, making it easy to find a table even during less busy times, like weekday visits or early afternoons. For a bit of entertainment, try to snag a window seat facing the gibbons — watching their curious antics adds an unexpected touch to the meal and keeps kids engaged.

Food quality matches what you’d expect in a zoo cafeteria: straightforward, familiar fare such as burgers and fries, with flavors that some find decent enough to satisfy a casual hunger, while others note room for improvement. Pricing aligns with typical zoo standards, which means it’s on the higher side compared to local eateries outside the park. The ordering process is streamlined thanks to multiple kiosks, cutting down wait times during peak hours.

Service is generally friendly and attentive, though some tables could benefit from more frequent cleaning to keep things tidy throughout the day. A practical perk for return visitors or those on the move is the zoo’s refillable cup program, which can help quench thirst without extra hassle.

This spot fits best for families, casual groups, or solo visitors who prioritize proximity and quick service over culinary adventure. Early to mid-afternoon visits on less crowded days will offer the most relaxed experience, with space to sit and a side of live animal entertainment through the windows.

Friendly staff! Food is similar quality of typical ballpark food. Tasty! The tables aren’t cleaned as frequently as the probably need to be. But it was a good experince and relatively clean. Be sure and sit next to the windows facing the gibbons. They are hilarious and interact with you. We came in March and the restaurant wasn’t packed. Plenty of places to sit. Will come back!

The line went fairly quick and the food was actually pretty good! We got burgers and fries. You can sit and watch the monkeys while you eat altho not sure that's a good idea . Overall a pretty reasonable priced good place to grab a bite to eat while visiting the zoo.

Compared to the rest of the zoo, the cafeteria has a little that could be improved on. Mainly, ok solely, the food. It’s quick to order because there are several kiosks to order from. Food is expensive as it usually is at a zoo. Burger was bleh. I didn’t eat it all. It was gross actually lol! I enjoyed the free refill zoo cup though!
